WORKING WITH INTERPRETERS:
1) Obtain a qualified Interpreter! One that adheres to the Professional Code of Ethics set by Interpertation Associations. This implies full confidentiality and non-disclosure of clients' information. Moreover, it suggest that one should not perform interpretation services unless one is qualfied.
2) Please give the Interpreter some context:
3) If during the deposition, information needs to be read and translated (sight translation), it's highly recommended to allow the Interpreter enough time to dissect the information. Keep in mind, our oath prohibits any paraphasing or synopsis of testimony.
4) During the questioning, the Interpreter should be positioned next to the witness. If the Interpreter is righthanded, the witness/client should be seated to his/her left. The Attorney should speak directly to the witness and the conversation should flow. The Interpreter must not cover for word choices or lack of understanding. The Interpreter should not give advice or take the role of the Attorney.
How to order Interpreting Services:

2) Provide all pertinent information: assignment date, time, place, contact person, name of client, and type of case.
3) Once the information is received, a contract will be faxed or e-mailed to you by Shelly Uhler-Ortiz.
4) Once the contract is returned an e-mail confirmation will be sent.
5) You will receive an invoice within 3 business days after the event, payable within 30 days. Or you can pay online utilizing Paypal!
